This elearning video course shows how to structure a potentially difficult discussion with a team leader without making them defensive.
In this case the team leader is not managing the performance of the team, but the skills you pick up on this course are the same for any difficult conversation with an employee who is not meeting performance standards. The course includes a video showing how it can be done.
