Introduction to Supply Chain Management
Course Overview
Essentially, SCM is managing everything it takes to get a product or service to your consumer. Since every step along the way has a cost, supply chain leaders should focus on capitalizing on opportunities, reducing risks, and maximizing supply chain capabilities. For instance, the success of a sales team is directly tied to the success of the supply chain. If the inventory isn’t available, the sale isn’t made or it is delayed. If an excess of inventory is carried, the product must be discounted or worse yet left unsold. Supply chain leaders have the arduous task of having everything in the right place, in the right quantities, at the right time.
