Travelling for Work: Situational Awareness
Course Overview
Business travel sometimes takes employees to unfamiliar and even hazardous environments. Even seasoned business travellers may lack situational awareness: the skill of monitoring their surroundings in order to adopt appropriate behaviour. The consequences of this can be as severe as sustaining an injury or falling victim to crime. There are also many less severe but still inconvenient consequences, such as getting lost, or unintentionally giving offence. The knock-on effects for organisations can be substantial: lost productivity, poor performance, reduced employee satisfaction and in extreme cases even lawsuits.
“Travelling for Work: Situational Awareness” introduces business travellers to this key skill of personal security, and shows them how to apply it in situations that commonly arise during work-related travel. The 3-minute animation—with rich, learning-focused visual content and lively audio narration—shows learners how to:
- Monitor their awareness level
- Maintain an appropriate level of awareness for their environment
- Identify and respond to potential hazards
- Avoid common situational awareness pitfalls
The course also includes a short assessment, so learners can test their understanding of the material.
