Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR)
Overview
DSEAR stands for the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002. Dangerous substances can put peoples’ safety at risk from fire, explosion and corrosion of metal.
This module introduces the key requirements of DSEAR, how to identify the risks and how stay safe in the workplace.
Objectives
At the end of the course, trainees will be able to:
- Recognise what constitutes a dangerous substance and an explosive atmosphere.
- Identify your own and your employer’s duties and responsibilities under DSEAR.
- Recognise the risks associated with dangerous substances and explosive atmospheres.
- Identify ways of reducing the risks.
- Take appropriate action to maintain safety.
- Put adequate plans in place to deal with accidents, incidents and emergencies
