Safer Recruitment

Overview

This CPD-certified, level-2 e-learning course is suitable for anyone who works with children, young people, or adults at risk in their work or voluntary activities, and provides learners with a thorough understanding of what safer recruitment is, why it is so important, and guidance for every step along the recruitment process - as well as what needs to be done once the appointment has been made.

The course includes optional voiceover recorded by a professional actor. It is specifically designed to help learners have an in-depth understanding of why safer recruitment must be implemented in every organisation that has a responsibility for safeguarding, and what else can be done as part of a wider outlook to deter unsuitable candidates and behaviours.

Course Content

  • Introduction and Preperation - Looking at what safer recruitment is and why it is vital, as well as full preparation for the process of recruiting new staff.
  • Shortlisting and Interviews - Best practice guidance for shortlisting and interviewing, including references and disclosures, and what you can do to discourage unsuitable candidates throughout these steps.
  • Checking Thoroughly and Remaining Vigilant - Everything that needs to be considered after you’ve decided on a candidate and before – and after –they’ve started employment with you.
