Supporting your Team, Difficult Life Events

Overview

You work with a great team of people. It’s enjoyable seeing them in the workplace and catching up with them outside of it, too. But no matter how straightforward things seem at work, you can’t control the challenges your team may face. This has got you wondering what you can do to support your team through difficult life events.

If you find out someone on your team is having problems outside of work, you might need to provide extra support.

Using skills like active listening and showing empathy can help, as well as seeking out extra support and resources where necessary. Although you can’t solve everything, this course will show you how you can support your team through tough times.

By the end of this course, you'll be able to:

  • Recognise the signs of team members experiencing difficult life events, to identify when they may need support
  • Explain active listening and empathy skills to support affected team members, so you can better support them
  • Describe strategies to offer appropriate workplace support and resources, to enable team members to receive appropriate, comprehensive support
