Shining a Light on Respect at Work

Overview

A recent inquiry by the Australian Human Rights Commission found that the current legal and regulatory system is no longer suitable for addressing workplace sexual harassment effectively. In response to this, the Sex Discrimination and Fair Work (Respect at Work) Amendment Act 2021 (the Act) was introduced in late 2021. The Act incorporates six recommendations from the Australian Human Rights Commission's report titled 'Respect@Work: A National Inquiry into Sexual Harassment in the Australian Workplace.'

The 'Shining a Light on Respect@Work' course illuminates the profound impact of harassment, the necessity for a new framework to prevent and respond to it, and how the Respect@Work Amendment Bill addresses these needs. Additionally, it delves into an organisation's positive duty to fulfill these obligations and the potential consequences that may arise if they fail to do so.
