Safeguarding (Office)

Overview

This course will provide you with an understanding of what safeguarding is and the legal and moral safeguarding responsibilities that you have. It will also provide you with insight into the different types of abuse and their indicators. You will be introduced to the legislation that underpins safeguarding and learn how to respond to suspicions or disclosures of abuse, including how to correctly record and report your concerns.

Finally, this course will provide you with an awareness of your responsibilities in safeguarding children as well as the indicators of abuse more specific to those under 18.

  • To gain an understanding of the signs and indicators of abuse.
  • To gain an understanding of how to respond to suspected or disclosed abuse.
  • To gain an understanding of how to protect people from harm and abuse - locally and nationally.
  • To gain an understanding of your responsibilities in safeguarding children.

Course Structure

This course has been designed in a non-linear and modular fashion which means you may complete the units in any order you wish.

The course will track your progress so don’t worry if you have to dip in and out.  There will be a knowledge check at the end of course which will become available once you have completed all of the prescribed units.
