Listening, Questioning, and Rapport Building

Overview

How do you get someone to trust you? It’s a tricky question and one with no one definitive answer. Some people will open up pretty freely, while others might take more coaxing. But if you want to build trust and coach someone effectively, then listening and asking questions is a good place to start.

Listening, questioning, and building a rapport can help you understand your coachees better. The more you understand the person you’re coaching, the more you can come up with advice and guidance which supports their individual needs. But, as you learn more, it’s important to use active listening and avoid asking questions which cross unnecessary boundaries. This course will show you how.

Outline Learning Objectives:

  • Explain how to establish trust in a coaching session using active listening techniques
  • Demonstrate how to use questions in coaching while avoiding judgement
  • Identify effective strategies for rapport building with coachees
