Menopause Awareness: Understanding the Menopause and Creating Supportive Workplaces

Course Overview

Welcome to this course on menopause awareness. The course begins by defining menopause, outlining its key stages and common symptoms, and highlighting the importance of awareness in challenging stigma and providing meaningful support.

You will then explore the wide range of physical and mental symptoms associated with menopause, recognising that each person’s experience is unique. While some may have no symptoms, around 75% of women will experience some, and approximately 25% will face severe symptoms that can significantly affect their quality of life, as noted by the UK Department of Health. These symptoms can vary depending on factors such as health, lifestyle, and genetics.

The final module focuses on menopause in the workplace, offering strategies for managing symptoms at work and outlining the legal responsibilities of employers. You will learn how to foster a supportive, menopause-friendly environment through awareness, training, and access to appropriate resources. By the end of the course, you will be better equipped to understand menopause and support those affected, both personally and professionally.

In this Menopause Awareness course, we will look at the definitions of menopause, the medical symptoms, treatment and how organisations can better support those in the workforce who are struggling.
