Overview

They say we’re living in a ‘post-truth world’. One feature of this world is the increase in ‘fake news’. When we’re reading a news article online, or when we’re browsing the stories that appear on our social-media feeds, it’s hard to distinguish fact from fiction, isn’t it? And if you can’t see the truth clearly, you could be tricked in other ways, too.

We’re always hearing about devices being hacked, and we’re more savvy of the techniques used to tempt us into downloading malicious links these days. But fake news is an emerging threat. We’re tempted by faked headlines, designed to grab our attention and prompt actions which may put our personal and financial information at risk. But how do you spot fake news? And what do you do if you fall victim to a fake-news scam? It’s time to find out!
