Introduction to Safeguarding Culture

Overview

You and your colleagues care about the students at your school or college. But it takes more than individual commitments to safeguarding to create a united front against abuse. Creating a successful safeguarding culture within schools and colleges is a key part of protecting students from harm. But what exactly is it? A successful safeguarding culture requires a holistic, child-centred approach to all aspects of school life. Leadership must take a practical and strategic approach to empowering everyone to report and respond to safeguarding concerns in a way that prioritises student well-being. This course will walk you through what a safeguarding culture is and the components needed to create a successful one.

By the end of this course, you'll be able to:

  • Recognise a safeguarding culture and why a child-centred approach is necessary
  • Recall the components needed for a successful safeguarding culture

Why should I take this course

This course is perfect for senior leadership teams and designated safeguarding leads. It'll show you what a safeguarding culture is, and how it relates to child-centred practice.
