Adult Safeguarding - Level 3

Overview

This e-learning course is suitable for safeguarding leads within any kind of setting, organisation or sector that works with adults who might be at risk of harm. It is specifically designed to help safeguarding leads consider what happens in their sector and what they need to put in place. It includes a look at the relevant law and legislation, recaps what makes an adult at risk of abuse and neglect, and the different categories of abuse. This course assumes that the learner has already completed level 2 adult safeguarding training, and concentrates on key principles and standards, mental capacity, safeguarding thresholds, awareness and reporting, and disclosures.

Course Content

  • Topic 1 - Introduction - A quick look at the relevant law and legislation in all four nations of the UK.
  • Topic 2 - Adults at Risk - A recap on what an adult at risk is, what abuse is, who is more likely to be abused, and a recap on the different categories of abuse.
  • Topic 3 - Key Principles and Standards- The concept of wellbeing and what areas it relates to, and the other key principles and standards those working with adults should have in place.
  • Topic 4 - Mental Capacity - What mental capacity is and process for assessing it in all four nations of the UK.
  • Topic 5 - Safeguarding Thresholds - A close look at the six key principles that underpin working with adults who might be at risk of abuse and neglect.
  • Topic 6 - Awareness and Reporting - Covering the need for everyone to be aware of adult safeguarding and what to do in the event of a concern.
  • Topic 7 - Disclosures - How to react to disclosures of abuse, including challenging other agencies where necessary.
