COVID-19 Infection Control

Overview

This infection control course comprises three easy-to-follow study units. It includes official guidance relating to COVID-19 along with tips for improving your general immunity to infection. The importance of good hygiene and the ease with which infection can spread are key aspects, along with the importance of good infection control policies. It is often used as part of a suite of induction or mandatory training for employees.

The course is broken down into bite-sized units with the following titles:

  • COVID-19 Guidance
  • Understanding Infection and Hand Hygiene
  • Controlling Infection and Safe Waste Disposal

Objectives

On completion of this course learners will be able to:

  • Apply official guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19
  • List common pathogenic microorganisms and explain why they are harmful
  • List their responsibilities as a member of staff
  • Follow correct procedure when dealing with spillages and sharps
  • Give key reasons why hands need to be decontaminated
  • Explain what HCAI means and why it is important
  • Describe how to break the chain of infection to prevent contamination
