Allergy Awareness Training

Course aim:

This module offers a short introduction to the new 'Food Information for Consumers Regulation (EU FIC')' that came into force on 13 December 2014 and the amendment that commences on 1st October 2021 referred to as Natasha's Law

Course objectives:

By the end of this module you will be able to:

  • Identify a variety of foods that can cause allergic reactions
  • Describe the labelling requirements for pre-packaged foods
  • Explain the impact of Natasha's Law on the labelling requirements for PPDS foods
  • Give examples of ways in which information about allergenic ingredients of food can be provided to consumers on unpackaged foods
  • Explain the actions to take should someone show signs of having an allergic reaction.
