Moving and Positioning of Individuals

Overview

Completion of this course ensures that staff are trained in up-to-date, relevant information when it comes to moving and positioning people

This will also reduce incidents of injuries to staff and people we support when performing required moving and positioning techniques.

Additionally, it will ensure that people undertaking this course will comply with training requirements of their organisation as well as the local authority and the CQC.

Objectives

  • Explain personal responsibilities in moving and positioning individuals and how these relate to the law
  • Describe the common injuries that occur to staff in manual handling and how to protect against these
  • Plan the key steps required before and after lifting and moving an individual
  • List the types of support available – including types of equipment and working with others
  • Identify best practice scenarios
  • Move and position an individual safely and correctly

Everyone working in health and social care who has, as part of their role, the responsibility to move or help to position individuals in their care.
