You and your colleagues work hard to make sure your school or college is a safe, nurturing place for students. But unfortunately, abuse can happen anywhere. And even if the relevant staff code of conduct is clear and accessible, it doesn’t guarantee that staff will always follow it.
You need to take all safeguarding concerns and allegations made against adults working with children seriously. Understanding the difference between low-level concerns and allegations that may meet the threshold for harm will help make sure your response is appropriate. This course will walk you through the difference, and how to respond, so you can prioritise student welfare at all times.
If you’re a designated safeguarding lead, a member of the board of governors, or part of the senior leadership team, this course is for you. It’ll help you recognise the different levels of concerns and allegations, in line with the guidance laid out in Keeping children safe in Education (KCSIE.) And it’ll help you respond to low-level concerns and allegations that may meet the threshold for harm swiftly and appropriately.
