Overview

Did you know, the earliest use of asbestos may've been for candle wicks, in around 4000 BC? Turns out, this was not a good idea. I mean, who'd have thought it? Things really kicked off in the late 19th century, though. Cue 100 years of asbestos-infused textiles, boilers, pipes, car brakes, floor tiles, insulation, and more. The problem is, if something that has asbestos in it gets damaged, breathing in the particles it releases can lead to fatal diseases.

Today, thousands of people in the UK lose their lives to asbestos-related illnesses each year. While people that work in demolition and building repair are at the greatest risk of asbestos exposure, anyone can encounter it. So, whatever your job, you need to be aware of the dangers. Thankfully, this course will explain them.
