An Introduction to Understanding Dysphagia

Course Overview

This presentation is designed to be an introduction and basic understanding of dysphagia.

There are 12 learning sections to the course followed by a life story and a 12 question quiz.

On completion of the course, you will be able to recognise dysphagia, the causes and signs of dysphagia, any complications that arise, the treatment available, what to do when swallowing becomes a problem and communication between doctors and patients.

Course Objectives

By the end of this presentation, students will be able to:

• Understanding of what Dysphagia is
• Recognise how to support people with Dysphagia
• Understand the difficulties of swallowing and how to support this with safe swallowing methods
• Know what questions to ask a doctor and what questions a doctor may ask the patient
