Competition Law

Overview

Everyone knows that person who’s just a little too competitive, right? They hoard all the Monopoly money, forget the trivial part of Trivial Pursuit, and get twisted over Twister. That’s bad competition. But in business, competition is good! It encourages innovation and fairness, and helps consumers get the best deals. There are even laws to protect it.

Competition law protects competition between businesses. When companies become anticompetitive or abuse their dominant market position, it’s easy for everyone else to lose out. In fact, competition is a vital part of a free and fair economy. This course will give you an insight into how it all works.

Outline Learning Objectives:

  • Recognise the benefits of competition law to promote fairness in your organisation
  • Identify the key ways anticompetitive agreements and abuse of dominant market positions harm competition (to avoid these practices)
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how competition law is enforced and reported on to ensure your company’s compliance

This course will help you recognise the benefits of competition law, see the damage anticompetitive agreements and abuse of market positions can do, and gain an understanding of how breaches are reported and punished.
