The Lean Methodology

Overview

Some things are better when you keep them simple. Sure, you could add truffle oil and saffron to beans on toast, but it doesn’t need all that to be delicious. Just beans, bread, and maybe some cheese if you’re feeling adventurous. Anything else would just be a waste of time and resources and wouldn’t add much to your bean-based satisfaction.

The Lean methodology is the beans on toast of project-management styles: cutting out waste and focusing on customer value. Guided by the principles of continuous improvement and respect for people, the Lean methodology promotes the flow of value to the customer at all times. This course will take you through the Lean methodology, so you can see if it’s right for your project.

Outline Learning Objectives:

  • Define the 5 core principles of the Lean method (value, value stream, flow, pull, and perfection) to ensure continuous improvement and respect for people is achieved
  • Identify the 8 types of waste the Lean methodology outlines to ensure only what adds value for the customer is left
  • Apply the Lean methodology to cut out waste and streamline your project’s focus on customer value

Why take this course?

There are many ways to approach a project as a manager, and the Lean method is one that puts customer value 1st. This course looks at the 5 principles of the Lean methodology and how you can apply them practically to a project.
