Setting SMART Goals
Course Overview
It’s important to set the right goals at work. If you set goals that are too vague or hard to measure, there’s no way to know whether they’re being achieved. Likewise, goals need to be realistic. It doesn’t do morale any good to set unattainable goals.
The SMART system for setting goals is an easy way to check that your goals are taking you in the right direction. Each letter of the word SMART stands for a factor which it’s useful to bear in mind when you’re working out what your goals should be.
It might seem like a lot of checking to go through, but in the long run it will save you time and help you avoid dead ends.
This course unpacks each element of the SMART system and explains how to use it.
Firstly, we look at setting specific goals, then we look at how to make goals measurable.
We then look at how to make sure that goals are achievable, before looking at how to ensure that any goals are relevant. Finally, we look at the importance of having clear deadlines.
This microlearning course is an animated video, with audio narration and a multiple-choice post-assessment.
