Emergency First Aid Awareness
Overview
This course covers some of the key topics outlined in an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course teaching you how to recognise and treat minor injuries and illnesses as well as life-threatening conditions in adult casualties.
Objectives
In this course you will learn to:
- Identify how to use the primary survey (DR ABC) and secondary survey (SAMPLE) with a casualty
- Outline the steps for how to perform life-saving techniques, such as CPR, the recovery position, back blows and abdominal thrusts
- Recognise signs and symptoms of minor injuries and illnesses and how to administer care
- Recognise signs and symptoms of severe or life-threatening conditions and how to treat a casualty
About the Course
This course is intended to be used as a refresher to those who are EFAW or First Aid at Work (FAW) certified or as an introduction to those who intend to take a practical first aid course. This course should not be used as a substitute for practical first aid training, and it does not qualify you to carry out first aid treatment.
