Forced Marriage Awareness
Overview
This CPD-certified, level-2 e-learning course is suitable for any member of any organisation but particularly relevant to those working or volunteering in any safeguarding capacity.
The course includes optional voiceover recorded by a professional actor. It is specifically designed to give learners a thorough understanding of what forced marriage is, how to recognise the signs and how to act on concerns by looking at the forced marriage statistics and stories. This course features information on forced marriage protection orders, the forced marriage unit and honour-based violence.

- The Family Law Act 1996
- The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, which makes it a criminal offence to force someone to marry
Course Content
- Introduction - Introducing the definition of forced marriage and honour-based violence, understanding the features and consequences of it and some of the motivations for it. Also includes case studies and statistics.
- Signs and Actions - Providing an overview of common signs of forced marriage, as well as guidance for what to do upon suspicion or discovery of it. Also covering the key points from The Family Law Act 1996 and the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
