Manual Handling

Overview

This RoSPA-accredited, level-2, e-learning course is suitable for anyone who undertakes manual handling activities as part of their work or voluntary activity. The course includes optional voiceover recorded by a professional actor.

It is specifically designed to teach learners everything from the basics of manual handling and what harm can be caused from poor manual handling, to the specifics, such as; laws and legislation and step-by-step guides to correct lifting and handling.

  • The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • The Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 2002
  • The Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992
  • The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992

Course Content

  • Introduction - What operations are covered when we're talking about manual handling, the hazards associated with manual handling operations, manual handling law.
  • Assessing Risk - An introduction to how a manual handling risk assessment is conducted, using the TILE approach to examine task, individual, load and environment.
  • Basic Technique - The basic principles of good handling technique.
  • Other Operations - Good technique for other operations including carrying, team-lifting, pushing and pulling, and using handling devices.
